Two arrested over podcast allegedly touching on 3R issues


SHAH ALAM: Police have confirmed the arrest of two local men following a report received regarding a podcast that allegedly touched on religious sensitivities.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said they received the report on Aug 5 before arresting a freelance host and a businessman, aged in their 30s and 60s respectively on Aug 6.

"Police have received a report regarding a video clip of a podcast created by two individuals discussing the issues of secular and liberal ideologies.

"This video clip was uploaded onto social media platforms where the podcast content touches on religious issues involving elements of race, religion and royalty (3R)," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 7).

The case is being investigated under Sections 298, 504 and 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948. – Bernama
