A man in Chongqing, China, discovered a glass capsule containing a microchip while eating, reported China Press.
The man posted the incident on social media Xiaohongshu, saying that he bit into a small glass capsule while eating noodles.
“I contacted the restaurant, but they read my message and ignored me!” he said.
“If I had not noticed it and swallowed it, the sharp edges of the glass could have cut my oesophagus and digestive tract, with potentially serious consequences!” he added.
Internet users speculated that the capsule could be a microchip implanted in a pet, which sparked fears that the meat the restaurant served could be from pet dogs.
The man later went to a veterinary hospital and requested for the microchip to be scanned, which revealed a 15-digit serial number.
In his latest update, the man revealed that the State Administration for Market Regulation carried out an investigation into the restaurant and confirmed that the object was a microchip implanted in a pig.

A reporter from the daily visited the area on Sept 20 and saw a large number of tourists moving through the streets.
Many were seen travelling with elderly family members and children and could be seen enjoying local food.
Despite the hazy air, tourists took photos in front of the buildings, murals and popular spots.
When interviewed, business owners agreed that the number of customers visiting their shops remained around the same, with no significant dip in footfall.
