Global Sumud Flotilla: Malaysian volunteers to land at KLIA tonight, says PM's polsec

PETALING JAYA: The 23 Malaysian Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers who have been released by Israeli forces will be arriving home Tuesday (Oct 7) night at 9.50pm, says Ahmad Farhan Fauzi.

The political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is in Istanbul, Turkey, said this in a Facebook Tuesday morning.

"We kindly ask for the prayers of all Malaysians so that our journey to bring home the Sumud Nusantara activist delegation tonight will be smooth and safe.

"We are expected to arrive at around 9:50pm Malaysian time, God willing (insya-Allah)," he said with the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI, #MADANIWorks and #GSF.

Ahmad Farhan had travelled to Turkiye on the orders of Anwar with Sumud Nusantara Operations Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby two days ago after the Israeli forces deported the 23 GSF Malaysian participants to Istanbul.

On Monday (Oct 6), Sani Araby said, in a WhatsApp message to Bernama, that the aircraft carrying the 23 will land at the KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

On Thursday (Oct 2), the 23 Malaysians were detained by Israel after the ships they were on were intercepted while in the Red Zone in the Mediterranean Sea and were taken to the port of Ashdod, Israel.

They were later released and departed from Ramon Airport, Israel at 6.45pm Malaysian time on Sunday before arriving in Istanbul at 8.40pm.
