KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his personal assurance that the government is doing everything possible to secure the safe release of Malaysians involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF).

Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the Prime Minister contacted him at 8.10am on Friday (Oct 3) to check on the well-being of the volunteers and their families.

"As the patron of the Sumud Nusantara Humanitarian Mission, the Prime Minister conveyed his regards to the families and gave his full guarantee that he is closely monitoring the situation.

"He stressed that the government is exhausting all efforts to secure the release of our Malaysian delegates," he said in a statement.

He added that Anwar has been actively engaging in diplomatic negotiations with key international leaders, including the President of Turkiye, the Emir of Qatar, and the US Secretary of State, to intensify efforts for the release.

Sani also called upon all mission supporters and Malaysians to continue offering prayers and performing solat hajat for the success of the efforts.

A press conference on the matter is scheduled to be held at 4pm today.
