Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers to be deported to Europe, says Israeli Foreign Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Israel has claimed that the intercepted Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers will be deported to Europe.

“Hamas-Sumud passengers on their yachts are making their way safely and peacefully to Israel, where their deportation procedures to Europe will begin,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday (Oct 2).

“The passengers are safe and in good health,” it added.

A total of 201 of the 497 GSF participants are believed to have been detained by the Israeli military.

This includes 12 Malaysians who were volunteers on GSF ships bound for Gaza.

Sumud Nusantara Command Centre director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said that as of 10.44am Malaysian time on Thursday (Oct 2), 14 flotilla vessels had been intercepted.

He said these include Sirius, Alma, Huga, Grande Blu and Hio, which were carrying seven Malaysian men and five women.
