Global Sumud Flotilla: High Comm meets lawyers in Jordan to ensure legal protection for M'sian detainees

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian High Commission in Amman, Jordan, has met with a team of Malaysian lawyers in Amman to ensure that Malaysian detainees involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission receive fair and transparent legal protection.

The High Commission said that it was closely monitoring the movements of Malaysians in the GSF mission, especially those detained by Israeli authorities.

"The High Commission is also in contact with Asean member states in Amman and Tel Aviv to obtain current information on the Malaysian detainees and to provide appropriate consular assistance," according to a consular notice published on the embassy's Facebook page on Friday (Oct 3).

Earlier, Wisma Putra said that all 23 Malaysians participating in the GSF mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza had been detained by Israel and will be repatriated via a third country.

The GSF mission, involving over 500 activists from 44 countries, including Malaysia, sailed towards Gaza as a symbol of solidarity and an effort to break the Israeli blockade by delivering essential supplies to Palestinians affected by the ongoing attacks by the Zionist regime.
