Storm warning: Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected over 12 states, three FTs until 9pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather warning, with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast in twelve states and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan until 9pm Tuesday (May 20).

In a statement Tuesday, MetMalaysia said the areas affected include Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang, Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

In Sarawak, the areas are Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Beluru, TelangUsan, Miri and Marudi), and Limbang while in Sabah, the areas affected are Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau and Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan).
