MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms in several states tonight (May 17)


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned about thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several states until 9pm on Saturday (May 17).

In a statement at 5.55pm on Saturday, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Perlis; Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); Penang; Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim); Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman); Pahang (Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Kuantan and Rompin); Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat); Negri Sembilan (Jelebu and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi)

It also warned of bad weather in Sarawak, affecting Sarawak in Kuching (Bau and Kuching); Serian; Samarahan; Sri Aman; Sibu (Selangau); Mukah; Kapit (Song and Kapit); Bintulu; Miri and Limbang

Areas affected in Sabah are the interior; West Coast (Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud); Sandakan (Kinabatangan) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Pitas) as well as the federal Territory of Labuan.
