Jalan Batu Arang-Ijok closed in both directions following landslide

KUALA LUMPUR: Jalan Batu Arang-Ijok near the 32nd Mile, in the vicinity of Fruit Valley, Rawang, has been closed to all vehicles in both directions following a landslide that occurred on Thursday (Nov 5).

Gombak district police chief ACP Ibrahim Husin said his department received a report on the incident at about 11pm.

"Preliminary investigations conducted by the police and the Batu Arang Fire and Rescue Department at the scene revealed a landslide caused by the failure of both the upper and lower slopes, as well as a portion of the road structure.

"The Fire and Rescue Department indicated that the collapse has rendered the lane from the direction of Ijok towards Rawang unsafe for passage, necessitating the closure of the road in both directions," he said in a statement Saturday (Nov 7).

He added that no fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident.

According to him, the exact cause of the incident is currently being examined and remains under further investigation by the relevant authorities. – Bernama
