Cops issue 137 summonses during traffic light operation in Iskandar Puteri

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have issued 137 summonses to motorists for violating traffic light rules during Ops Utama (Lampu Isyarat Merah).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan reported that 130 vehicles and 144 individuals were inspected in the two-day operation from May 13 and 14.

"Beating red traffic lights is the most common offence committed by road users," he said in a statement.

ACP Kumarasan stated that the summonses were issued to offenders under Rule 167/59 of the Road Traffic Rule with a maximum compound of RM300.

He added that the operation will be conducted periodically, with stern action taken against motorists who persist in running red lights.

"Their actions not only endanger themselves but also other road users," said ACP M. Kumarasan.
