Subang Jaya inferno: Victims still trapped in their homes, says SSOC


PETALING JAYA: There are victims still trapped in their homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru as the towering inferno from a burst gas pipeline explosion rages on nearby.

Subang Jaya MP Wong Chen shared a statement by the Smart Selangor Operation Centre (SSOC) saying that rescue efforts were underway following the blast that rocked Putra Heights on Tuesday (April 1) morning.

"The estimated number of affected houses has not yet been determined.

"Some victims are trapped inside their homes. Rescue efforts are actively underway," SSOC report stated which was posted by Wong on Facebook.

The report by the SSOC stated that rescued victims were taken to the community hall located at the Putra Heights Mosque.

"Some victims have suffered burns and are awaiting ambulances for medical treatment.

"Currently, the mosque management is assisting the victims," the report added.

SSOC said that the fire involved a main gas PETRONAS gas pipeline near the PETRONAS Putra Heights petrol station in Subang Jaya.

"According to the authorities at the scene, the petrol station itself is not on fire.

"However, only the main gas pipeline is burning, and it has been shut off, awaiting the remaining gas to burn out completely.
