Four who died at Pinkfish concert had drugs in blood, say cops

PETALING JAYA: Four individuals who died after attending the Pinkfish countdown concert on New Year's Eve had drugs in their blood, say cops.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said toxicology analysis by the Chemistry Department confirmed drugs in their bodies.

"We received a report from the department, where all who died had drugs in their blood and it has been referred to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to get the full report.

"We have recorded the statements of 52 individuals, including the victims who survived and concert personnel," he said when contacted on Saturday (Jan 18).

The remaining victim - a 30-year-old man - is still being treated at the UMMC, he said.

"We are still unable to record his statement as we are waiting for the go ahead by the doctors.

"The individual who was discharged last week and had his statement recorded also had drugs in his blood," he said.

He said the police are still in the midst of investigating who supplied the drugs to the victims.

On Jan 6, the police recorded the statement of the Pinkfish countdown concert's organiser in connection with the death and injuries sustained by concert-goers.

The organiser's statement was recorded at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters.

Four local individuals died after attending the Pinkfish concert in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, on New Year's Eve.

They are believed to have taken ecstasy.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had stated that the four, along with three others, fell unconscious after using drugs at the concert.

He revealed that investigations showed all had consumed ecstasy pills at the event.
