PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department has lodged a police report over a viral social media post alleging an applicant experienced mistreatment while dealing with officers at the UTC Pudu Sentral Immigration office.
Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the department conducted internal checks following the post, including reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, system records and statements from officers on duty.
“Several allegations in the post were found to be inconsistent with the CCTV footage, relevant records and statements obtained by the department,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 25).
Zakaria said the department took the matter seriously to ensure the actual circumstances could be established based on verified facts.
“Therefore, a police report has been lodged for further action and the department will give its full cooperation,” he said.
He added that the department respected the right of individuals to voice their views, share their experiences or lodge complaints regarding its public services.
“However, the sharing of accurate and comprehensive information is important to ensure that matters can be assessed fairly and to avoid misunderstandings,” he said.
Zakaria emphasized that the department remains committed to handling complaints transparently, professionally and without prejudice, while ensuring courteous and integrity-driven service delivery.
