Organisers to fully cooperate with cops over deaths of four at New Year concert

PETALING JAYA: The organisers of the PinkFish Countdown 2024 will cooperate with the police in its probe into the deaths of four people who attended a concert at Bandar Sunway here on Dec 31.

PinkFish management, in a statement on Thursday (Jan 2), said the incident occurred outside the concert grounds.

It added that they are working closely with authorities to provide support to those affected, including the families of the four victims.

"The safety and well-being of visitors, staff and the surrounding community are our priorities.

"We always take various safety measures for every event organised, including PinkFish Countdown 2024.

"Among the measures taken were the presence of more than 100 police officers, the K9 unit, and trained security personnel at the entrance.

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that resulted in the loss of four lives at the concert," it said, reported Sinar Harian.

On Wednesday (Jan 1), four locals aged between 20 and 40, including two women, died after attending the concert.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that they had received four reports from the University of Malaya Medical Centre over the deaths.

Post-mortem examinations revealed all four victims had no external injuries and police have classified the cases as sudden death.
