ROCK group Search has stayed together, weathering the ups and downs in the past four decades, its lead singer Datuk Amy (pic) says.

“We have stayed relevant in the music industry,” he told Metro Ahad.

The group will be holding concerts in Genting Highlands on Aug 12, Melbourne on Oct 14 and Singapore on Jan 16 next year.

“Search is the first Malay rock group to play at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting,” said Amy, 65.

Besides Amy, the others in the group are Nasir (bass), Hillary Ang (guitar), Man Kidal (guitar) and teenage drummer Naimi Daini.

Nasir said they would perform at the Festival Hall of Melbourne, which has previously hosted many international bands.

“We have had fans in Sydney asking when we will perform there,” he said.

> The late singer Datuk Sudirman Arshad was a perfectionist and would not stinge on the financial costs to expand his career, said prolific lyricist Datuk Habsah Hassan.

“He did not have many friends but he was generous and always ready to help those in need,” she said.

Mingguan Malaysia, in its report, said that Habsah and Sudirman were like siblings.

Almost all of his songs featured lyrics penned by Habsah, 74.

However, she said they drifted apart when Sudirman was placed under a new management.

Prior to his death, Habsah said that Sudirman had spoken to her about producing a movie together.

However, that did not materialise as he passed on, she said.

> Kosmo! Ahad reported that many women were risking their lives by opting for home birthing methods which they picked up from YouTube.

A woman, identified only as Nur Asiah, said she gave birth to two of her children at home as she felt uneasy about male doctors.

She also said that she did not want to use modern medicine as she feared that it could lead to complications.

“This is why I learned the techniques of birthing from YouTube,” she said.

Throughout her pregnancy, she only visited private clinics twice.

Another woman known as Rosni said that a number of her friends did not trust modern medicine as well.

Rosni, who gave birth at home, said her engineer husband did not object to her decision.

“He assisted me during my birthing process at home,” said Rosni, who is a degree holder.
