Motorcyclist dies after cement mixer crashes into him at Sibu intersection


SIBU: A motorcyclist died after a cement mixer crashed into him at the traffic light intersection of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce on Tuesday (April 21).

A viral video of the accident showed that the victim, Benet Kawit, 39, was run over by the cement mixer.

The state Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 10.10am concerning the accident.

"Upon arrival, the firefighters found the victim under the lorry and he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"Firefighters assisted the police in removing the victim using a stretcher before handing him over to the authorities for further action," it said.
