THE plight of a nine-year-old boy who was found inside an animal cage in a low-income neighbourhood in Port Dickson has sparked concern among residents after he was also seen wandering alone unclothed, Kosmo! Ahad reported.

A resident in his 50s, who declined to be named, said he first noticed the child about two months ago.

According to the resident, the boy’s father had died, leaving him in the care of his grandfather, who suffers from dementia.

Sri Tanjung assemblyman Dr G. Rajasekaran, who paid a visit to the boy, said his inquiry revealed that the boy’s mother had returned to Vietnam when he was three years old.

“He was later cared for by his uncle. However, the uncle died at the end of last year, leaving the child without proper care,” he said.
