KOTA BARU: Although many had offered to make way for him to contest in the general elections, Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin said it was up to Umno’s top leadership to determine his position.
“I am a party man, even though many local leaders have offered their seats to me. I am open to standing in any constituency in Negri Sembilan or the Klang Valley.
“So far, the seat for me has not been decided,” he told reporters after a handover ceremony of a flood mitigation project at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II), here yesterday, reported Bernama.
In the 14th General Election, Khairy (BN) won the Rembau parliamentary seat by defeating his challengers from PAS and PKR after garnering 36,096 votes.
Meanwhile he said the flood mitigation project at HRPZ II includes the construction of concrete fences, drainage, water pumps and flood barrier systems.
“A total of 14 flood barrier fences were constructed to prevent water from entering the hospital area.
“The government has approved this project under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP), costing RM8mil of which this project is the first to be implemented at an existing government facility,” he said.
Also present yesterday were state public works, infrastructure and utilities committee chairman Datuk Azami Mohd Nor.
Khairy also added that as many as 60 new ambulances, costing RM24.3mil would be placed at various health facilities in Kelantan.
“A total of 20 ambulances will be placed in hospitals while another 40 will be placed at health clinics. These ambulances will be supplied in stages starting next year,” he said.
Khairy said that a unit of echocardiography machine and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) machine, costing RM1.69mil, were placed at HRPZ II to reduce referral cases and enable patients to be treated at this hospital.
