94,411 cops on duty for elections

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 94,411 police officers and personnel will be deployed for the 15th General Election, says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani (pic).

At the same time, the Inspector-General of Police said preparations had also been made to work hand in hand with other rescue agencies to face the possibility of floods during the election.

Police, he said, were ready to face the election.

“We will deploy 94,411 out of 120,557 personnel for various duties related to the election.

“We will also cooperate closely with all agencies, especially the Election Commission, to ensure a smooth democratic process,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Acryl Sani said he hoped that all parties play their part so that the election could go on without any unwanted incidents.

“The public must refrain from touching on sensitivities in facing any political scenario,” he said.

It was recently announced that Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali had been appointed as Bukit Aman’s operation director for the general election.
