Special Umno meet discussed 'current issues', says Bung Moktar, refusing to elaborate

KUALA LUMPUR: The special meeting between prominent Umno leaders on Monday (Aug 22) discussed “current important issues” within the party, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The Kinabatangan Umno chief, who left the meeting at 2.30pm, did not elaborate further about the “issues” as he dashed off in his car.

“We just discussed current issues,” he said repeatedly.

Prominent Umno leaders have gathered at the party’s headquarters for a special closed-door meeting.

The meeting involves the Umno president, deputy president and Umno division chiefs.

The gathering is said to be in relation to a pertinent issue regarding the party’s future, which was indicated in a WhatsApp message that has been circulated.

It is believed that the 15th General Election was among the top issues discussed at the meeting.

Among the leaders seen attending the meeting include Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Former Terengganu mentri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin and Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin.

Also seen was Johor Baru Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrir Samad while Titiwangsa Umno chief Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani arrived at about 1.30pm.
