IPOH: Police have arrested a 25-year-old man believed to be involved in an armed robbery at a supermarket in Slim River last month.
Muallim OCPD Supt Khalid Mohamad said the suspect was arrested in Rawang, Selangor, at about 11.20pm on Thursday (Aug 13).
Police also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used during the robbery, he said.
Supt Khalid said police received a report on July 1 from a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly robbed by two men at about 1.50am.
"One of the suspects was armed with a knife and they escaped with cash, jewellery and two mobile phones worth a total of about RM4,800," he said in a statement on Friday.
Supt Khalid said the arrested suspect would be remanded for six days from Friday to next Wednesday to facilitate investigations under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery involving a weapon.
He advised the public to remain vigilant and take safety precautions, particularly when at business premises late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
"The public are also urged to provide police with any information related to criminal activities so that appropriate action can be taken to ensure community safety," he said.
