ABOUT 10,000 participants from all walks of life took part in the Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day event in Kuching, Sarawak, an initiative celebrating active living, nutritious breakfasts and community spirit.
A buzz of energy filled the air at Kuching community hall as participants gathered for a 3km fun run, supported by interactive zones.
This was a fitness challenge, coupled with family‑friendly activities designed to encourage movement, engagement and quality time together.
The event also featured educational elements through the Nestlé for Healthier Kids (NH4K) programme, which promotes healthy eating habits among children that embraces the whole family.
Participants learned about balanced nutrition through hands‑on activities centred on Malaysia’s “Suku‑Suku Separuh” concept.
It encourages healthy meal planning and better dietary choices in a practical, engaging way.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said it was pleasing to see people from diverse ethnic backgrounds coming together for an event that promoted nutritious breakfast habits and active living.
He added that this reflected Sarawak’s rich cultural diversity and strong community spirit.
“While our communities may have different traditions and heritage, we all share the common goal of raising healthy families and stronger communities.”
“Events like this help strengthen those connections while encouraging positive lifestyle practices that benefit people of all ages,” added Wee.
The first participant to cross the finish line of the fun run was 16‑year‑old Ahmad Irfan Arsyad, who has been participating in the Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day run since he was seven.
“Over the years, it has become an annual tradition for me and I always look forward to the event.
“Milo has been part of my childhood, as I grew up as a Milo kid and it naturally became part of my routine,” he said.
Following stops in Sabah, Terengganu, Sarawak and Pahang, the Milo Malaysia Breakfast Day will make its way to Kelantan before concluding in Putrajaya on July 12.
