Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia is appealing for public help as two toddlers have been hospitalised for different kinds of issues this week.
"The hospitalisation alone has placed a heavy financial burden on our centre. We are really hoping for Malaysians to come out and help these two toddlers as they badly need help to continue their nursing to better health," said the centre's senior officer Susan Ng.
"With both children hospitalised one after another, their combined medical expenses eventually reached RM70,000. We have raised RM32,000 thanks to some good support of the public. But we are still short of RM38,000.
"Xin Yi has been receiving treatment for some time now, and then Shao Heng, another child from our centre, developed a recurring fever and was also admitted to the hospital. Shao Heng is now undergoing intensive care in the hospital.
As for Xin Yi, during her hospitalisation, she spent three days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors discovered that she had a lung infection, and her X-ray showed many white spots in her lungs. Her fever also kept coming and going.
"After spending 11 days in the hospital, she is much better now. But as she is recovering, now Shao Heng is also very ill and has also been hospitalised. The young boy has also developed influenza," said Susan. "He requires further treatment and has remained hospitalised for about a week now."
"For our centre, which is also responsible for the long-term daily care of our special needs residents, this is an overwhelming financial burden that we simply cannot afford to bear alone. We are also thankful for the support we have received so far. But we are still short of almost RM38,000, and we really are hoping we will receive support from the Malaysian people."
"Our hope now is to raise the remaining medical expenses, so that our centre can continue caring for them and the other children who depend on us," said Susan. "We sincerely appeal for your support to help Xin Yi and Shao Heng get through this difficult time. Every donation and every share makes a difference to the children.
