THE first-ever Kampung Tunku x DKing Durian Sarong Run 2025 is set to take place on Aug 24.

The run, featuring a 5km route, will be held in SS2 Park, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The race will be flagged off at 7.30am, with the entire event running until 10am.

Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei said the event is designed as a charity fun run.

“Proceeds will go to schools within the Kampung Tunku constituency.

“The fun run is part of our support for Visit Selangor 2025.

“It celebrates Malaysian culture with elements such as sarongs, durians and community spirit,” she said.

Schools identified as beneficiaries are SMK Taman SEA, SK Taman SEA, SMK (P) Sri Aman, SJK(C) Sg Way, SJK(C) Puay Chai, SK Kampung Tunku and SMK Sri Permata.

Registration is open to runners aged 10 and above.

The registration process is being conducted in two phases.

“The first phase — open until today — is a ‘durian runtuh’ special phase limited to the first 100 participants and comes with a registration fee of RM40.

“For participants numbers 101 to 1,500, an early bird fee of RM50 will be charged from July 2 to 15,” said Lim during a press conference held at Dking SS2 Durian, Petaling Jaya.

All registered runners will receive an official event T-shirt with batik-inspired print, finisher medal, race bib and e-certificate.

DKing founder Leron Yee shared the company’s plans to turn the programme into an annual event.

“Dking is sponsoring 300g of fresh XO durian for the first 1,500 registered runners who manage to complete the run.

“Qualified participants can enjoy this durian after crossing the finishing line,” said Yee, adding that the durian element aims to celebrate the Malaysian culture.

Participants can register through racexasia.com and ticket2u.com.my before July 15.
