Taking stock of rare disease


WORLD Rare Disease Day (WRDD) was celebrated yesterday. An annual commemoration initiated by the European Organisation for Rare Diseases, WRDD was celebrated for the first time on Feb 29, 2008. (Feb 29 is the actual date.)

Today, more than 70 countries, including Malaysia, celebrate WRDD on the last day of February to raise awareness among the general public and decision makers about rare diseases and their impact on the lives of patients.
