SUBANG JAYA: A foreign student was killed and his friend seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding was involved in a five-vehicle crash along Jalan USJ 1 here on Monday (Sept 28).
The crash occurred at about 6.34am, when a bus driven by a 29-year-old local man allegedly lost control and rammed the motorcycle carrying the two 19-year-old students.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the bus was travelling from Persiaran Subang Mewah towards Edumetro when the incident occurred.
“The bus driver is believed to have lost control upon reaching the scene and crashed into the motorcycle, which was stopped at a red traffic light.
“The bus also hit a car parked along the left road shoulder and two other vehicles in front of it,” he said in a statement on Monday.
He said the motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries while the pillion rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Both victims were foreign nationals and 19-year-old students at a private institution.
“The injured rider was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment, while the deceased was sent to the hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
