Nutritional aid is reaching a total of 7,213 students from 78 schools under Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) jurisdiction through the Selangor Nutrition Programme (NutriSel) this year.
Selangor Deputy State Secretary (Management) Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim hoped students would enjoy and benefit from the balanced meals.
“I also hope their learning and development can proceed under the best possible conditions,” he said at the symbolic handover ceremony for NutriSel at SMK Puchong in Selangor.
The programme, from August to October, aims to ease the financial burden of low-income families and ensure students received sufficient nutrition to support their concentration and learning.
It is targeted at primary and secondary school students across Selangor from B40 households earning below RM2,000 a month, particularly those who do not receive the Supplementary Food Programme.
Out of 1,796 students enrolled at SMK Puchong, a total of 322 students from the morning and afternoon sessions received meals under the initiative.
For 2026, Selangor government has allocated RM14.4mil for the NutriSel initiative, covering 962 selected schools and an estimated 106,000 students statewide.
NutriSel is part of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package, jointly implemented by the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit, local authorities, Selangor Education Department and Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
The initiative is also in line with MBSJ Strategic Plan 2026-2030 that focuses on strengthening community well-being and human capital development.
Also present at the handover ceremony were Subang Jaya deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali and Selangor Education Department student development sector deputy director Yusaini Salleh.
