MUAR: Police are investigating incidents involving two cars allegedly being driven recklessly on the North-South Expressway (NSE), as shown in a viral video.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said preliminary investigations found that the incident was believed to have occurred at KM135 of the southbound NSE at about 5.48am on Sunday (Sept 27).
“The roughly three-minute video, which went viral on Facebook, shows two cars believed to be overtaking each other and using strobe lights, endangering other road users,” he said in a statement.
ACP Raiz Mukhliz said a police report was lodged at the Muar traffic police station after the video came to the authorities’ attention.
He said one of the vehicles had been identified while police were still tracking down the other.
“We are actively working to locate the owners and drivers of both vehicles to assist in further investigations,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the Muar district police headquarters to assist investigations.
