PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, have expressed their heartfelt condolences over the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
In a post on the Selangor Royal Office's official Facebook page, Their Royal Highnesses expressed profound sadness over the death of Dr Siti Hasmah, the wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Their Royal Highnesses hope that the family of the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah will be granted strength and fortitude during this difficult time.
"Their Royal Highnesses pray that Allah SWT will bestow His mercy upon her soul, forgive her sins and place her among the faithful and righteous," they said on Monday (Sept 28).
Dr Siti Hasmah passed away at the age of 100 at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur at 9.20am on Monday.
She is survived by her husband and seven children.
