PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has send Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and two of its subsidiaries several recommendations to improve governance and enhance transparency in the Agro Park (Commercial) Project and the Cattle Trading Pilot Project.
In a Facebook post on Monday (Sept 28), the commission said the recommendations were presented to Felda, FIC Supplies Sdn Bhd, and FIC Integrated Property Management (FIC IPM).
Among the recommendations was to restructure of FIC IPM's role as an independent advisory panel to ensure that the views and advice provided are more objective, transparent, and free from conflicts of interest.
MACC noted that Felda should also set specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for procurement methods via Requests for Proposal and variation orders, as well as to improve transaction procedures by FIC Supplies to strengthen internal controls and transparency.
"Felda and its subsidiaries welcome the recommendations and have committed to implementing them in stages," according to the post.
According to MACC, agreement on these recommendations was finalised through a Governance Improvement Report signed by Felda deputy director general of services Muhammad Fitri Othman, FIC group chief executive officer Syed Fadil Syed Sofi, and MACC Governance Investigation Division director Datuk Mohazaki Hassan. - Bernama
