IPOH: The sole survivor of an accident involving an Immigration Department truck on Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, that claimed the lives of her husband and two children is still in a confused state.
Norhayati Razali, 55, who was treated in the Kuala Lumpur Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), has been transferred to a regular ward and is showing progress, able to eat and drink without using a tube.
Her brother, Mohd Nadzri Razali, 69, said Norhayati is still experiencing memory loss following the injuries sustained, including to her head.
"She was told that her husband and two children have died. After regaining consciousness, family members took her to see their bodies and explained what happened; she just nodded and didn't say anything.
"But the next day, she asked where her husband and children were. So we are unsure if she remembers what she was told," Mohd Nadzri said on Friday (Aug 21).
Mohd Nadzri said his sister suffered both bodily and head injuries and does not know how long she will need treatment.
Mohd Nadzri said he had yet to visit his sister because he does not have transportation to Kuala Lumpur but hopes to do so this weekend.
On Aug 19, three pedestrians were killed and another seriously injured after they were hit by an Immigration lorry in the city.
The vehicle, with its beacon and siren activated, was on its way to the Chow Kit area and entered an intersection while the traffic light was red.
It collided with a car moving straight during a green light, causing the truck to go out of control and crash into the victims and another car. – Bernama
