KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has recorded statements from 127 individuals to assist investigations into issues highlighted in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said several more witnesses, including individuals residing overseas, will be summoned to assist the probe.
He said police have opened five investigation papers related to the cases so far.
“The investigations are being conducted under the Penal Code, Tabung Haji Act 1995, Companies Act 1965 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001,” he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 21).
Comm Rusdi assured that police remain committed to conducting all investigations independently, transparently, and professionally in accordance with the law.
“Any party found to be involved in criminal acts will be dealt with accordingly under the prevailing laws,” he said.
He urged the public not to speculate or disseminate unverified information regarding the ongoing investigations.
He added that unsubstantiated statements could mislead the public and potentially undermine the investigation process.
“The public is urged to obtain information only from official channels,” he said.
