PUTRAJAYA: A former Lembaga Tabung Haji chief executive officer has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations into issues highlighted in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the pilgrimage fund.

The remand order, which runs until Aug 27, was issued by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah on Friday (Aug 21) following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The man, who is in his 60s, arrived at the court at about 9.35am in an MACC vehicle.

Wearing the anti-graft agency's orange lock-up attire, the corporate figure appeared calm as he was escorted by MACC officers.

The RCI report on Tabung Haji, which was made public on July 29, highlighted various weaknesses in the institution's management and governance between 2014 and 2020.

The commission also made 25 recommendations for improvements.
