Two cyclists die after being hit by vehicle in Putrajaya, say cops


PUTRAJAYA: Two cyclists died after being hit by a vehicle at KM9.0 of Jalan Persiaran Selatan, Putrajaya, on Thursday (Aug 20) night, says Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed.

In a statement Friday (Aug 21), the Putrajaya OCPD said the accident occurred at 10.15pm Thursday, involving a vehicle driven by a local man in his 40s and two male cyclists in their 40s and 30s, respectively.

"Initial investigations found that the vehicle being driven had changed direction from the middle lane to the left lane before hitting the two cyclists.

"As a result of the accident, both cyclists were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident due to severe injuries to the face and head," he said.

He said investigations were continuing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Aidi Sham asked the public or witnesses to the incident who had relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Putrajaya traffic police station at 03-8886 2138 or any nearby police station. - Bernama
