KUALA TERENGGANU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) needs to explain how it intends to use the Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo in the upcoming Melaka state election, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
The Terengganu Mentri Besar said the PN chairman is the designated authority notified to the Election Commission (EC) to approve the coalition’s logo usage.
“So how does Bersatu intend to contest using the PN logo?
“You have to ask Bersatu how it plans to use the logo,” he said after the Terengganu Biodiversity Seminar yesterday, Bernama reported.
Ahmad Samsuri, who also serves as PN chairman, stressed that the coalition will continue to use its official logo in future polls.
Bersatu has been locked in a coalition dispute following disagreements over its standing within PN and a Registrar of Societies (ROS) complaint regarding its alleged exclusion from a meeting.
On seat allocation negotiations, Ahmad Samsuri said the parties should uphold the basic principles agreed upon as they prepared for the Melaka state election and next general election.
He said developments in Melaka were part of efforts to implement the principles discussed during earlier negotiations among the coalition’s component parties.
“We hope these basic principles can be carried forward into subsequent negotiations,” he said.
Ahmad Samsuri said candidate lists have been submitted by component parties, with an official announcement scheduled for tonight in Melaka.
