PM orders thorough probe into Immigration truck crash that killed family of three


PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the Immigration Department to immediately conduct a thorough investigation into an accident involving one of its trucks that killed three members of a family.

He said action must be taken if the investigation finds any negligence or breach of the law.

“I have instructed the Immigration Department to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation.

“If there was any negligence or violation of the law, appropriate action must be taken without compromise,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Aug 19),

Anwar also extended his condolences to the family of those who died in the accident.

It was earlier reported that a man and his two daughters were killed after they were hit by an Immigration Department truck that veered off course following a collision at a traffic light intersection along Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa had earlier reportedly said that the accident occurred at about 1am on Wednesday.

He said that the empty truck was travelling from the Kuala Lumpur Immigration office to Chow Kit to pick up detainees following an operation against illegal immigrants in the area.
