Police hunt driver after early morning car chase through Kuala Lumpur

PETALING JAYA: Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who fled during an attempted inspection, triggering a car chase through several areas in Kuala Lumpur early Thursday (Nov 5).

Wangsa Maju OCPD Asst Comm Annas Sulaiman said the incident occurred at about 2am when a Setapak police station mobile patrol vehicle spotted a suspicious vehicle with its engine running along Jalan Usahawan 6.

He said the driver sped off when officers attempted to conduct an inspection, prompting a pursuit through PPR Air Panas, Jalan Santuari Utama and Jalan Ayer Keroh before heading towards Jalan Tun Razak.

"However, the vehicle eventually managed to evade the police," he said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 5).

The police had earlier detected a 13-second video of the chase circulating on social media platform Threads.

ACP Annas urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, Wangsa Maju district police headquarters at 03-9289 9222 or Setapak police station at 03-4023 2222 or channel information to the nearest police station.
