PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has wished the new Negri Sembilan state government success in leading the state towards greater progress and prosperity.
"May the new state government lead Negri Sembilan towards greater progress and prosperity, while serving the interests and well-being of all its people," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 7).
He also congratulated Chennah assemblyman John Siow (Siow Kong Choon) on his appointment as a Negri Sembilan executive councillor.
Ten Negri Sembilan assemblymen were sworn in as members of the state executive council (exco) before the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, at Istana Besar Seri Menanti on Friday morning.
Siow is the only non-Muslim member of the exco. He is in charge of the Local Government Development, Housing and Non-Islamic Affairs portfolio.
His appointment came after MCA returned to the Negri Sembilan state assembly with two seats in the Aug 1 state election. The party won Chennah and Repah, with Siow defeating DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke in Chennah.
