ALOR GAJAH: A secondary school here has lodged a police report after a Form One student allegedly threatened his schoolmates with a penknife.
Alor Gajah OCPD Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at about 2.50pm on Thursday (July 9) during a student appreciation programme at the school's hall.
According to preliminary investigations, the 13-year-old student was driven to retaliation after two other students, aged 13 and 14, repeatedly threw ice at him.
Supt Ahmad said the student took a pen knife from his pencil case and chased one of them for about 50m towards the school's surau.
He said that in response, the boy retrieved a penknife from his pencil case and pursued one of his provocateurs for about 50 metres toward the school’s surau (prayer room). Two other onlookers also fled the scene in fear of being targeted.

"The entire incident was captured on the school's closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras," Supt Ahmad said on Friday (July 10). "Fortunately, a teacher acted swiftly, managing to calm the student down and persuading him to surrender the weapon."
No injuries were reported, and the suspect's family was immediately called to the school to take him home.
Supt Ahmad noted that all the students involved in the altercation have existing disciplinary records dating back to the beginning of the school year.
He further disclosed that the Form One student has been receiving psychiatric treatment at Hospital Melaka, with his most recent follow-up session on June 3. The school administration was reportedly well aware of his medical condition.
Following the incident, a teacher lodged a formal complaint at the Durian Tunggal police station. Police have since initiated an investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
