Selangor declares Sept 1 public holiday for state over Sukma success

PETALING JAYA: Selangor has declared Sept 1 a public holiday after the state topped the medal tally for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari made the announcement during the closing ceremony for the games here on Monday (Aug 24).

Selangor topped the medal tally with 101 gold medals, 73 silver and 71 bronze for a total of 245 medals. In second place was the Federal Territories with 51 gold, 24 silver and 52 bronze for a total of 157 medals.
