PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist and pillion rider have been injured after their vehicle crashed into a car door that was suddenly opened by a passenger in Taman Muda, Ampang.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said police received a report about the accident at 12.45pm on Monday (Aug 24).
"Preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at about 7.15am on Jalan Bunga Mawar 3, Taman Muda, when the motorcycle, carrying a pillion rider, was travelling from Tasik Permai towards Taman Muda.
"A car suddenly stopped and its rear left passenger opened the door. The motorcyclist waS unable to avoid it and crashed into the door," he said in a statement on Monday.
ACP Khairul Anuar said the motorcyclist and pillion rider fell onto the roadside and sustained injuries.
"Both victims received treatment at a hospital. Both parties later lodged police reports regarding the accident," he said.
He said investigations found that the accident was caused by the negligence of the car passenger when opening the door.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of LN 166/59, which carries a compound of between RM300 and RM2,000 upon conviction.
