Ipoh cops arrest six gang members


IPOH: Police have busted a gang known as Geng Manap believed to be involved in a series of motorcycle thefts and a house break-in in the district.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said six suspects, aged 27 to 66, were arrested in several operations from Aug 11 to 18.

"A total of 20 motorcycle frames and eight sacks containing motorcycle components were seized.

"Investigations reveal that this group is linked to 14 cases of motorcycle theft and one house break-in," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 24) night, adding that the cases were investigated under Section 411, 414, 457 and 374A of the Penal Code and Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Some of the suspects were charged in court today while others were released on bail between RM3,000 and RM5,000 while waiting for case mention, he added. – Bernama
