Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast for KL, Labuan and nine states until 9pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) expects thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and nine other states to persist until 9pm on Friday (June 12).

It said in a statement that adverse weather is set to hit Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling); Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Mualim); and Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman).

Other peninsula states set to be affected are Selangor (Hulu Selangor and Gombak); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan and Pekan); Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin); and Johor (Batu Pahat and Pontian).

In Sabah, the areas likely to be affected are the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan); the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Ranau); and Sandakan (Beluran).

In Sarawak, similar conditions are expected in several districts, including Sri Aman, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau); Mukah (Dalat and Mukah); Kapit; Bintulu; Miri and Limbang. - Bernama
