Chinese national held for trespassing at KLIA

SEPANG: A foreigner was arrested for trespassing into a restricted security area at the international departure gate of Terminal 1 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

KLIA OCPD Asst Comm Ravi Munusamy said the suspect, a woman from China, allegedly passed through the autogate security checkpoint on Saturday without a flight ticket.

Initial investigations found that the woman had entered Malaysia on April 30, but did not have enough money for a return ticket.

He said the suspect was brought before the Sepang Court yesterday and was remanded for further investigations under the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959.

The offence carries a fine of up to RM1,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both upon conviction.
