LRT passenger molested by foreign man at Setiawangsa station


PETALING JAYA: A 25-year-old woman experienced an alarming encounter when she was allegedly molested by a foreign man aboard an LRT train at Setiawangsa on Aug 19.

During the 8.30am incident, the victim was allegedly approached by the suspect, who rubbed his body against her from behind while they were travelling on a train from Wangsa Maju towards Pasar Seni via Setiawangsa.

The woman reportedly tried several times to push the man away, but he allegedly ignored her attempts.

She subsequently moved to another section of the train and lodged a police report regarding the incident.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said the suspect was detained by Prasarana Auxiliary Police officers at the Pasar Seni LRT station at 11.30am on Friday (Aug 21).

“The suspect, a Bangladeshi national, was handed over to the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division for further action.

“He has been remanded for four days until tomorrow and the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 24).
