Fewer top scorers in SPM 2025 despite overall improvement in passes


PUTRAJAYA: The number of candidates achieving straight A grades in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination has seen a slight decline.

Education Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said a total of 13,779 candidates, or 3.55%, obtained excellent results with grades of A+, A- or A in all subjects, compared to 13,827 candidates (3.65%) in 2024.

However, he said the number of candidates who scored A+ in all subjects rose to 376, up from 352 in the previous year.

“Meanwhile, 92,347 candidates (23.76%) secured at least a credit (grade C) in all subjects, an improvement from 86,040 candidates (22.73%) in 2024,” he said when presenting the SPM 2025 results analysis on Tuesday (March 31).

The number of candidates who passed all subjects also increased, with 141,728 candidates (36.47%) obtaining at least a grade E, compared to 136,791 (36.13%) previously.

Candidates can collect their results from 10am on Tuesday (March 31) at their respective schools, while private candidates may do so at the nearest state Education Department office.

Results are also available online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my and via SMS by typing SPM (space) MyKad number (space) index number and sending it to 15888.

A total of 413,299 candidates sat for the SPM 2025 examination across 3,350 centres nationwide.
