Two nabbed in Kulai for putting up Jalur Gemilang, Johor flag upside down

KULAI: Two people have been arrested in connection with a case of putting up the national and Johor state flags upside down, say police.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said that a Nepalese man and a local woman were both arrested at about 10.45am on Aug 17 following a Facebook post containing pictures of the flags flown upside down.

He said that a 34-year-old Nepalese guard was arrested for putting up the flags at a premises at the Indahpura industrial estate here, while the 48-year-old local woman was nabbed for giving him the flags and instructing him to put them up.

"Police seized a Malaysian and another Johor state flag along with a work schedule," he said in a statement.

He added that initial investigations showed that both suspects did not have past criminal records and tested negative for drugs.

ACP Tan said that both suspects have been remanded for four days to assist in investigations.
