PETALING JAYA: A restaurant in Banting was raided after authorities uncovered suspected wildlife parts in an enforcement operation on Aug 13.
The operation, conducted under the Southern Zone Integrated Enforcement Operation (Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah), involved the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) and the police's General Operations Force Central Brigade and Battalion 4.
In a statement on Tuesday (Aug 18), Perhilitan said the operation uncovered one wildlife crime case involving suspected parts of pangolins, mouse deer, giant Asian river frogs (katak demam), civets and Asian softshell turtles.
A freezer and a mobile phone were also seized, while a woman, who was the restaurant owner, was detained during the operation.
The seized items, estimated to be worth RM15,000, were taken to the Perhilitan office for further investigation and action.
Perhilitan said it would continue strengthening cooperation with the police and other enforcement agencies to combat wildlife crime and protect the country's biodiversity.
The department also urged the public to channel information on wildlife crimes through its hotline at 1-800-88-5151 or the Public Complaints Management System via its official website.
