ALOR GAJAH: A 17-year-old male student has been remanded for two days for allegedly repeatedly assaulting and threatening his junior in a bullying incident at a secondary school in Pulau Sebang here.
The remand order against the Form Five student was granted by an Alor Gajah Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (Aug 18).
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at about 10am on Aug 14 while the victim was cleaning a classroom whiteboard during recess.
He said preliminary investigations found that the two students had earlier been involved in a disagreement on WhatsApp, during which the victim allegedly used offensive language against the suspect.
“The suspect confronted the victim before allegedly punching him repeatedly,” he said on Tuesday (Aug 18).
Supt Ahmad said the victim attempted to protect himself, but the suspect allegedly continued kicking him, striking his face, head, abdomen and private parts.
He said the frightened victim apologised in an attempt to end the assault, but the suspect allegedly continued punching him before warning that he would attack him again.
"The suspect later told the victim that he would have to follow his orders if he wanted to settle the dispute and avoid being assaulted again.
"He then handed the victim some money and ordered him to buy a drink,” he said.
The victim reported the incident to a teacher later that day.
Supt Ahmad said the victim’s pain worsened after he returned home, and he also experienced a burning sensation while urinating.
He said the victim informed his father and was taken to the Simpang Ampat Health Clinic before being referred to Melaka Hospital, where he was admitted overnight for further examination before a police report was lodged, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Supt Ahmad said the suspect had also contacted the victim’s parents and elder brother via WhatsApp before his arrest, claiming that he was unafraid of the police report because he purportedly had connections with top cops in the district.
