Sabah’s 2025 SPM results show overall improvement

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah students recorded better results in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, according to Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin.

He said 34,737 candidates from government schools qualified for SPM certificates, an increase of 2,236 compared with 32,501 candidates (94.68%) in 2024.

A total of 182 Special Education Needs (CBPK) candidates sat for SPM 2025 in Sabah. Of these, 137 candidates (75.27%) qualified for certificates, up from 131 candidates (65.17%) in 2024.

Raisin said the 2025 SPM results were reported based on candidate achievement and subject performance, with overall achievement measured using the State Average Grade (GPN). The GPN for Sabah improved to 4.85 in 2025 from 5.00 in 2024.

Three candidates scored straight A+ in all subjects in 2025, compared with six in 2024.

In 2025, 605 candidates (1.63%) obtained a combination of A+, A and A- grades, up from 580 (1.64%) in 2024. The number of candidates who obtained at least a credit (Grade C) in all subjects rose to 6,150 (16.61%) from 3,437 (9.74%) in 2024.

The number of candidates who achieved at least a pass (Grade E) in all subjects increased to 14,533 (39.24%) in 2025 from 13,265 (37.64%) in 2024.
